Logan Paul Holds Mayweather For Eight Rounds
Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul went the distance on Sunday night, with eight rounds coming and going and no winner being decided.
The YouTuber managed to last the entirety of the eight rounds – albeit controversially – but the fight was one that would have given horror to the biggest fans of boxing.
Eight rounds passed without many punches worthy of comment landing. Paul threw 213 and hit Mayweather with just 28 of those – 13 percent. As there were no judges, there was no winner decided on points. The only winners were each fighter’s bank accounts.
“He surprised me tonight, he’s a good competitor,” Mayweather said of the YouTube star afterwards, repeatedly saying that he “had fun” on the night. But, for Mayweather, the bout itself looked like nothing more than a standard training exercise to keep himself in shape.
There was one instance of Mayweather landing a punch and appearing to do some damage to Paul. Had the YouTuber fallen it likely would have been a knockout, but Mayweather appeared to catch him and hold him upright and the fight continued. There was another moment where Mayweather had a chance to catch him with a left hook as he tired, but passed on the opportunity.
There was little but controversy to arise from the occasion, that and a lot of content for social media conversations.
