Simona Halep stunned Serena Williams to win her first Wimbledon title with a brilliant 6-2 6-2 victory against the seven-time winner at the Championships.
Williams had dropped just two sets in the singles tournament this year but that quickly became three as Halep won the first set 6-2 in little over 30 minutes.
The Romanian was on the front foot from the first to the last point and wrapped up a memorable win with a 6-2 victory in the second and final set.
If Williams had won, it would have been her eighth Wimbledon title and her 24th Grand Slam.
