Federer Crashes Out Of Wimbledon In Straight-sets Defeat To Hurkacz

Roger Federer has crashed out of Wimbledon at the quarter-final stage with a straight-sets defeat to Hubert Hurkacz on Wednesday.

Federer was blown away by his 24-year-old opponent on Centre Court, as his dreams of winning his ninth Wimbledon title went up in smoke.

His slow start saw him concede his first set of the tournament, as his Croatian opponent took the first set 6-3.

Although Federer took a 3-0 lead in the second set, Hurkacz fought back to win the set in a tie-break and go 2-0 up.

The eight-time Wimbledon champion was unable to recover from that point, as he was comfortably beaten 6-0 in the final set.

Although Federer will now look to recover at the Tokyo Olympics, followed by the US Open, he looks some way off his best level, and the doubts over whether he will be able to secure his 21st Grand Slam have now increased further.
