Exclusive! LG Poll: Lagos APC Appeal Committee Strikes Out Osolana’s Petition Against Egunjobi

Ahead of the forthcoming local governments elections in Lagos State scheduled for July 24, 2021, the All Progressives Congress (APC) appeal committee has struck out the petition filed by an aspirant of the party in the May 29, 2021 APC primary, Mr Sola Osolana, against the victory of incumbent Chairman of Agege Local Government, Mr Ganiyu Egunjobi, in the election, Worldtopnewsng exclusively report.
Worldtopnewsng gathered that Osolana had approached the tribunal seeking the nullification of Egunjobi as the winner of the party primary.

Osolana in his petition stated that the election was marred by thugs, hooligans’ destruction of electoral materials, membership registers, and ballot boxes snatching in all the 7 wards in Agege LGA.
He also attached pictures to his petition.
This was after the returning officer declared Egunjobi as the winner of the election.
In document sighted by Worldtopnewsng the ruling by the appeal committee was delivered by a five-man panel led by former deputy governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro, on Friday at the party secretariat.
“It is observed that this Petitioned was not addressed to the Appeal Electoral Committee nor Copied to the Appeal Committee. As such there is no petition by the aspirant before this panel,” it ruled.

Other members of the screening appeal committee are Folasade Bakare (secretary), Sejoro James, Rasaq Balogun and Dele Oloke.
The appeal committee dismissed all the grounds of the Osolana’s petition for lack of merit. “In the circumstance, the purported appeal or petition is incompetent and therefore dismissed,” the panel concluded.
