Eriksen Was Dead, Says Denmark Team Doctor

Denmark national team doctor Morten Boesen has revealed that Christian Eriksen was essentially dead after he collapsed during his team’s Euro 2020 Group B match with Finland.

Just before half time, Eriksen fell to the ground and was unconscious, needing CPR on the field before he was taken to hospital.

“He was gone,” Boesen told the press. “And we did cardiac resuscitation. And it was cardiac arrest.

“How close were we? I don’t know. We got him back after one defib (defibrillation). That’s quite fast. I’m not cardiologist, so the details about why it happened and further, I will leave to the experts.”

Eriksen has spoken to teammates from his hospital bed in Copenhagen, and Boesen has admitted that the setting of a major tournament and having the best medical equipment available was decisive in making sure the player survived.

“That was completely decisive, I think,” Boesen continued.

“The time from when it happens to when he receives help is the critical factor, and that time was short. That was decisive.”
