UNILAG Holds Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition On Friday
In keeping with the spirit of this age of phenomenal leaps in science and technology, the University of Lagos Engineering Society (ULES) is to hold its maiden edition of the Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition (PAADC) on Friday July 14.
In a statement by the chairman planning committee, Mr. Abah Anthony Abah stated that the competition grand finale will hold at 9 a.m. at the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium (Main Auditorium) of the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
The statement added that the competition aimed at sparking ingenuity in the minds of youths, to solve societal problems.
“Dozens of applications poured in from tertiary institutions all over the country, and the five most innovative designs have passed through two stages of screening to present at the grand finale.
“Every beating Nigerian heart pulses with the dream of seeing our beloved nation live up to her full potential. True to this dream, as the world moves forward, our youth are getting bolder.
“The competition is a medium through which we can honour, and further immortalize the memory of Professor Ayodele Oluwatuminu Awojobi, a Nigerian academic, inventor, social activist, crusader and erudite scholar of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos.’’, Abah said in the statement.
Abah added that the competition is intended to improve the self-reliance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in terms of indigenous technology.
