Real Madrid’s rampant first-half display against Eibar included James Rodriguez’s return to scoring form, the Colombian notching his first goal in the league since mid-September.

In the 25 games since Los Merengues’ win in Catalunya, James has only started six times with a further seven appearances coming off the bench.

However the attacking midfielder has grown into better form since the turn of the year and his wantaway statements at the Club World Cup, bagging twice against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey and playing 78 minutes of the Champions League win over Napoli.

In addition to registering on the scoresheet with a close-range finish at Estadio Ipurua, Rodriguez set up Karim Benzema’s second goal, his seventh assist of the campaign.

The Colombian later had a helping hand in Marco Asensio’s strike, hitting the post before the Spaniard rolled the rebound home to make it 4-0 to Real.
