SGF: Mamora, Oshiomole Top Choices Before Buhari To Replace Babachir
It is no more news that the Presidency has shown the door to the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), Babachir David Lawal. The news, however, is that, if Lawal finally and eventually exits from the seat of power permanently, who replaces him as substantive SGF. Presently, Dr Habibat Lawal from Bauchi has been appointed to replace Babachir in acting capacity.
Worldtopnewsng.com learnt that names of two prominent politicians are making the round as substantive replacement of the suspended SGF. Immediate past Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole and former Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Senator Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora are said to be under scrutiny by the Presidency for the sensitive post.
Worldtopnewsng.com while examining profiles of both powerful politicians who had performed beyond expectations in their respective offices.
Comrade Oshiomhole, a former Labour Leader was the Governor of Edo State for eight years, 2008-2016. During his tenure as the head of the executive arm of the government in the state, he had good rapport with the legislative arm largely because of the enormous power that resides in executive governor. If he succeeds in occupying the SGF seat, his experience in handling the legislative arm can come handy vis a vis over the not too rosy executive/legislative relationship between Aso Villa and the National Assembly.
Senator Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, a medical practitioner is an astute politician who knows his onion in the art of democratic governance.
The fair complexioned medical doctor with moustache as trademarks was the Honourable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2003 under the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Governor. Mamora, who supervised the most vibrant House of Assembly in the country had two major challenges during his tenure which he handled excellently to the admiration of the well informed people of Lagos State and beyond.
As a superb team player, the way and manner he rallied his other 39 colleague to save the ugly situation that arose over the celebrated certificate ordeal of Governor Tinubu earned this erudite medical guru accolade from the populace.
As if that was not enough, Mamora also rose to the occasion of the creation of additional Local Council Areas in Lagos State. Even when the then President, Olusegun Obasanjo stop the allocations meant for Local Councils in Lagos state, Mamora stood his ground with his governor based on the constitution of the land.
Through his political prowess and legislative acumen in lobbying to achieve results, Lagos State now has 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) which has brought government closer to the good people of the state.
Mamora’s superlative performance earned him a well deserve promotion to the highest legislative chambers in Nigeria-Senate between 2003 and 2011. It is on record and never a gainsaying that Mamora proved his legislative mettles beyond doubt as hardly could one mention any tangible motion or people oriented bill that didn’t have his generous inputs if he was not the mover or the initiator of such a Motion or Bill.
It is believed that, if Mamora replaces Babachir, his legislative experiences coupled with his robust relationship with his former colleagues some of who are still in the Senate would go a long way in smoothening the frosty relationship between the Presidency and Senate.
With his experience and ability to lobby, Nigerians are likely be better off if he is considered for the job.
