Quit Notice On Igbos: Group Caution FG, El-Rufai Over Youth Leaders Arrest
…Urge FG to dialogue with concern parties
A pan-Nigeria youth group, I belong to One Nigeria Initiative has cautioned the Federal government against arrest of leaders of the Arewa youths over quit notice on Igbos, insisting that such action will not only set the northern states on fire but also the entire country.
The group also cautioned Governor Nasir El-Rufai over his continued call for the arrest of the Northern Coalition Groups leaders.
The group stated this in a statement signed by its Convener and Executive Coordinator, Comrade James Ezema, the group urged the Federal Government to dialogue with the leaders of the groups in the north as well as leaders of all the agitating young people across the country.
“The Federal government must not give in to the temptation of using force to resolve issues bothering on the vacation order to Igbos in the northern part of Nigeria and the counter order issued by the Niger Delta youth group.
“We also caution the federal government not to arrest leaders of the pro-Biafra groups. The only feasible solution to the issues at hand is dialogue with the young people at the centre of the controversy”, the group said.
The group maintained that “at this point in our national existence, there is need to exercise caution in dealing with agitations across the country in order not to further endanger the unity of the country as no sacrifice is enough when it comes to ensuring the peaceful coexistence in Nigeria”.
