A Political Scientist, Dr Babatunde Adewunmi has described the recently concluded Presidential election as highly competitive.

Adewunmi said if the election was rigged as claimed in some quarters, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) could not have won Tinubu in Lagos and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP defeated President Muhammadu Buhari in his home state of Katsina.

For him, the margin between the first three contenders was so close shows that the votes of the people counts at the election.

He, however, said that the decision of Obi and Atiku to head to the court is in line with the democratic tenets.

In his review on the outcome of the election, the Political Scientist said there were reports of an attempt to hack the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) server when the exercise was on.

According to him, the fact that INEC could not immediately upload the results from the Presidential election could not have undermined the process.

On what is required to win the Presidential election, Adewunmi cautioned Nigerians against any attempt to manipulate or misinterpret section 299 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

He expressed believe that there was nothing to discourage Nigerians to return to the poll during the March 11th Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Adewunmi strongly believes that Tinubu will select competent Nigerians to work with in changing the narratives and repositioning the nation’s economy.
