PeacePro Urges EU To Follow Britain’s Lead Over U.S.-Isreal War On Iran
The Foundation for Peace Professionals (PeacePro) has called on the European Union to adopt a stance similar to the United Kingdom amid the ongoing U.S –Israel–Iran conflict.
PeacePro highlighted Britain’s cautious approach, prioritizing defensive support, legal scrutiny, and diplomacy over offensive military action.
The UK’s position drew criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump, who said the United States “does not need” British military assistance after London initially refused U.S. strikes from its bases.
In a statement by the Executive Director of PeacePro over the weekend, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, the group said “Britain’s approach demonstrates the importance of restraint, legal clarity, and diplomacy.
“We urge the European Union to follow this example, prioritizing negotiation and multilateral engagement over military escalation that could deepen human suffering and destabilize the region.” Hamzat said.
Hamzat added that, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s position marks a clear improvement over past leadership approaches, such as Winston Churchill’s, and could redefine Britain’s role on the global stage as a diplomat and stabilizer.
PeacePro stressed that the EU and other global actors must fully consider humanitarian impacts, international law, and long term peace when responding to the crisis.
Hamzat maintained that the UK and Europe should lead the call for global peace, rather than being drawn into war without clarity, input, or direction.
