The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr David Olusegun Odunmbaku, has charged Nigerian youths to double their efforts in developing themselves.
Odunmbaku, made this challenge while addressing over 2000 Nigerian youths at the maiden edition of the youth and governance symposium organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos West Senatorial District, held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja on Thursday.
The council chair who was represented by his Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Hon. Femi Fadeyi, also delivered his sad expression over the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike that has lasted over 5 months, after the Federal Government failed to meet some of its demands. He called on the Federal Government and ASUU to find an amicable way to resolve all differences and most importantly call off the strike.
His words: “In developing your potentials to become gainfully productive in modern skills acquisition and ICT. In social protection and medical care. Our political leaders of today must take advantage of the investments opportunities that both local and international institutions provide for your development.”
“You must have the readiness of mind to learn more, train more and know that involvement in politics is important, when started from the grassroots. Before seeking elective offices, however, a stable career is crucial.”
“We are already lagging behind in our preparations today for our tomorrow, you must sink double efforts into developing yourselves from today.”
The council boss, was honoured with an award of exceptional grassroots administrator by the youth council.
