NCC, CAPDAN To Sign MoU On Technology Development

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta has promised robust partnership between the commission and Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN) on technology development.
Prof. Danbatta expressed this amid his courtesy visit to CAPDAN headquarters in Lagos on Wednesday, 23rd August, 2017.
Danbatta who was accompany by Executive Commissioner (Technical Services), Engr. Ubale Ahmed Maska; Executive Commissioner (Stakeholder Management), Mr Sunday Dare; Commissioner/members of the board, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Mr Clement Baiye noted that the partnership is critical in view of the potentials Nigerian citizens has in terms of information and technology “am highly impressed with what I saw here today, for this situation we will bolster you (CAPDAN) on data innovation advancement”.
He included that “Computer Village has set up more than 3,000 small and medium enterprises and has contributed over $32 billion to the Communication sector.
As indicated by Danbatta he communicated that soon NCC would frame a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CAPDAN in the area of technology development.
“We are prepared to partner with CAPDAN in terms of training raw talents, giving universal exposure so the market’s potentials are legitimately tackled.”
Earlier during his welcome address, CAPDAN National President, Comrade Ojikutu Adeniyi Ahmed commended Prof. Danbatta and his commissioners for visiting the market.
Responding to Danbatta’s speech, Ojikutu said Computer Village provides the highest number of ICT solutions in Nigeria and Africa at large “as you are aware, activities in Computer Village go beyond selling of mobile devices, it is a hub where a lot of technical activities go on”, he stated.
He stated further that “Computer Village provides the highest number of ICT solutions in Nigeria and Africa at large. Computer Village also known as the hardware capital of Africa employs the highest number of graduates in any market in the country and Africa as a whole.
As per Ojikutu, he communicated that the market has improved the country, for example, ensuring more products and services in the communication sector are produced by Nigerians.
“We generates N1 billion daily, this insights completely indicates we are the biggest market in Africa” Ojikutu finished up.
Speaking in same vein, CAPDAN vice president, Mr Bonniface Ania said its a major stride in advance for the association and NCC for coming together “we are pleased to have NCC with us today. Being around here we realize what to do, is for NCC to give us the bandwidth of mobile phones and devices that works within Nigeria regulation, at that point we screen them in the market.
