MKO Abiola’s Mandate Group, Family Endorse Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu
The family of Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and members of the MKO Abiola’s Mandate Group have endorsed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for presidency and governorship elections respectively.
The eldest son of Kudirat Abiola, Olalekan Abiola and the Director General of MKO Abiola Mandate Group, Babatunde Dokunmu, yesterday, during a press briefing, stated that they are endorsing the two candidates and would mobilise for them to win the election because they both represent the progressives’ tendencies that MKO Abiola stood and died for.
Abiola said that the entire Abiola family is in support of Tinubu because he represents what their father lived and died for, adding that Tinubu is a visionary leader, who is competent, and a philanthropist that performed excellently well when he was governor of Lagos State.
Abiola stated that it was his father’s progressive tendencies that made him tagged his campaign ‘Hope 93’ noting that it was trilling that Tinubu dubbed its campaign ‘Renewed Hope’.
According to him, the family had discussed with his father’s political structures, especially the MKO Abiola Mandate Group on mobilising its structures national wide for Tinubu. He noted that when his father sought the presidency in 1993, Tinubu supported him and it was the former Lagos governor, who discussed with President Muhammadu Buhari on the need to immortalise their father, including declaring June 12 Democracy Day.
He stated that Yorubas stood and were united in their support for Abiola, asking that same gesture be extended to Tinubu. He said the support for Tinubu should be so massive that no candidate should be able to garner 25 per cent votes in the South West.
The Director, Grassroots Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Independent Campaign Council (ICC), AbdoulBaq Ladi Balogun, commended the family and the group for endorsing Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, saying Abiola was a progressive and died a progressive.
He added that MKO Abiola’s sacrificed his life to give Nigerians the democracy they are enjoying today, stating that the Abiola Mandate Group around the country is for APC.
Ladi-Balogun further said that the Abiola Mandate Group stood with APC in 2019 and was optimistic that the group’s support for Tinubu will translate to victory for Tinubu.
The Director General of Abiola Mandate Group, Babatunde Dokunmu, promised that the group would work to deliver on Tinubu’s emerging president of Nigeria and Sanwo-Olu getting re-elected as governor. He disclosed that members of the group across the country have been directed to mobilise and vote for Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu.
