Mass Exodus From PDP To APC As Political Giants In Emevor Lead Defection

In a political tremor that has shaken the landscape of Isoko North politics to its very root, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) suffered a major blow today as a host of its prominent members in Emevor defected en masse to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The dramatic shift was spearheaded by the influential Hon. High Chief Emmanuel Erezih, popularly known as Okpomo, marking what observers are calling the most significant political realignment in recent memory in the area.
The event, which drew hundreds of supporters, saw notable political figures including former Youth Chairman and Councillor, Hon. Comr. Sylvester Ifode; former Vice Chairman of Isoko North, Hon. Tony Odhe; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Chief Emmanuel Erihire; and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media and Strategy, Dr. Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel, officially dump the PDP for the APC.
Speaking at the ceremony, which was held at the APC Ward Secretariat in Emevor, High Chief Erezih declared the movement a new dawn for Emevor.
“Today, we are not just changing political parties; we are reclaiming the future of our people,” he said. “The APC represents the hope and renewed vision that our people so desperately need, and we are proud to align ourselves with that vision.”
Hon. Comr. Sylvester Ifode echoed Erezih’s sentiment, saying, “The PDP has lost its direction and has failed to serve the interests of the grassroots. Our people deserve better, and the APC offers us that platform to rebuild and progress.”
Hon. Tony Odhe, former Vice Chairman of Isoko North, described the move as one driven by the will of the people. “We are here not just as individuals but as voices of thousands who seek purposeful leadership. We have heard the cries of our communities and are taking bold steps to answer them,” he stated.
Dr. Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel added a strategic angle to the movement, emphasizing that the synergy between the Governor and the President must be sustained.
While noting that the community has a lot to gain from Tinubu and Oborevwori’s leadership, Palmer reminded the people that Gov. Oborevwori had visited Emevor more than any community in Isoko land, adding that after 8years of Oborevwori’s leadership, the people will be marvelled at the extent of development they would witness. Effective media and policy engagement. ”
The decampees were formally received by the APC Ward Chairman, Hon. Phillip Oghogho Karo, who welcomed them with open arms, praising their courage and commitment to positive change. “Today, the APC grows stronger not just in numbers but in capacity, vision, and leadership. We are honoured to receive these great minds into our fold.” he said, adding that; “once a person defects into our great party, he or she enjoys all the privileges of membership,” Hon. Karo declared. “In the APC, there is nothing like old or new member. What counts is your contribution, your commitment, and your willingness to serve. We recognize and reward those who work for the growth of the party.”
Other party stalwarts and leaders present include Pa Peter Otuata, Chairman of the Emevor community; Hon. Lucky Okoremu, his predecessor; Archbishop Otobo Abisi, councillor repressing Isi-Emevor Ward; Hon. Mrs Evelyn Umukoro, a leader of the APC in the ward, Barr. Paul Emerhana, Special Assistant Youth Development to the Governor, Hon. Joseph Ekowhiro, supervising councillor for finance, Hon. Isaiah Ogunye and several others.
With this historic migration, the political balance in Emevor and, indeed, Isoko North may be on the brink of a significant shift as the APC strengthens its grassroots influence ahead of the next electoral cycle.
