A pan-Lagos non-governmental organization (NGO), Lagos Youth Movement (LYM), has sued for peace and harmony on the issue of the land dispute in Magodo that has become a subject of litigation, admonishing that, all the parties involved should consider the wellbeing of about 22 million residents of the state when taking any decision over the vexatious matter.

Comrade Omolola Olukayode, the NGO’s boss told reporters in Badagry Wednesday that, with the confrontation witnessed between the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and official from the offices of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba, nobody would be left in doubt that, the case has to be handled with utmost care and caution.

The organization expressed the conviction that, lack of proper restructure of the country, was no doubt the bane of its impending political, social and economic instability, reasoning that, a situation, where duties and responsibilities of the state officials are not properly defined, tendencies are that, frictions amongst them across board would be rampart and ceaseless.

Against this backdrop, Olukayode feels that, the authorities should listen to the voice of wisdom from majority of the stakeholders in the country that the polity should be tinkered with, with a view to putting the faulty structure right for the wellbeing of the generality of the citizenry, insisting that, the more the country’s structure remains on a faulty foundation, the more the structure remains unsafe and dangerous.

The youth leader believes strongly that Nigeria cannot remain on the primordial structural sentiment of 1960 and expect political stability, social order and economic prosperity in 2022, pointing out that, remaining so would amount to motion without movement because the country would be taking two steps forward and twenty backward.

On the Magodo scenario, the concerned youth advise the federal officials to always based their legal interpretation on the peculiarities of the people and their culture, wondering if Malami and Alkali could try what they are doing in Lagos in places like Kano and Sokoto and expect the noble and respected people of the two state watching with hands akimbo?!

Against the forgoing, the Youth Movement therefore admonished the offices of the AG and IGP to be at the background and allow the governor, whose territory the matter resides to do the needful, saying, it is no doubt that, the governor, Sanwo-Olu is capable of doing justice to the matter in a manner that all sides to the issue would be satisfied, happy and comfortable.
