A group known as the Agege Youth Vanguard (AYV) has purchased the nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2025 chairmanship local election.

Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa in his pursuit of the chairmanship seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During a well-attended press conference held today, Thursday, at the Agege council secretariat, the coordinator of AYV, Comrade Ismail Garba Ismail, emphasised the significance of Abdul-Ganiyu’s extensive work experience and community engagement, asserting that these qualities set him apart from other candidates contending for the position.

“We will all agree that the change we desire in Nigeria can only be achieved when the country is in good hands, and key to the development of a nation is its grassroots management,” Ismail said.

He added: “We on our part did a thorough background check on aspirants both for chairmanship and councillorship in all the wards based on information available to us, and arrived at the following decisions: That the best man for the council’s Chairmanship job is Abdulganiyu Vinod Obasa.”

“That his academic record beat that of all other chairmanship aspirants across all the parties. For your information, he has a Bachelor’s degree in
Accounting and Finance from the University of Hertfordshire,
Hatfield England, and a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Aston University Birmingham, England. A PhD student at the Babcock University, Abdul-Ganiyu is an affiliate member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).”

“That the other’ aspirants’ work experience is no match for his, which includes: Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), Providus Bank Limited, and Parallex Bank Limited where he was Head of Performance Management and Strategy.”

He highlighted Abdul-Ganiyu’s proven leadership skills and dedication to youth empowerment as vital assets that make him a compelling choice for voters looking for effective representation in the upcoming election.

The Youth group expressed its unwavering support and confidence in Abdul-Ganiyu’s ability to drive positive change in the community.

“As we speak, he runs a private business, a going concern in real estate. None of the chairmanship aspirants have his records in terms of community service in Agege. This is marked by his football academy, VINOD, which as we speak has four football talents in Europe on the brink of signing professional contracts,” he concluded.
