Lagos LG Poll: Orelope-Adefulire, Balogun, Gbenga Abiola, 37 Others Named In APC Campaign Council

Vice Chairman of Agege Local Government, Gbenga Abiola, has been named among the 40-member campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state ahead of the July 12 local government elections.
The inauguration of the council was conducted on Wednesday by the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, at the APC Secretariat in Acme, Ikeja.
Former APC State chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, was appointed chairman of the campaign council, while Rasaq Ajala, chairman of the Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, was named Secretary.
Others appointed include former Lagos State Deputy Governor and current Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, who were named Coordinators for Lagos West Senatorial District, Hon. Abayomi Daramola and Chief (Mrs.) Bolanle Olusanya were appointed Coordinators for Lagos Central and East Senatorial Districts, respectively.
Also appointed as Deputy Coordinators for Lagos West were Chief Sunday Aboyade and Hon. Fatai Ayoola.
The council is structured into six key directorates: Mobilisation, Finance, Security, Media and Publicity, Electoral, and Special Duties. These are to be led by Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole, Hon. Olufemi Daramola, Dr. Razak Balogun, Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo, Barr. Ademola Sadiq and Dr. Lateef Ibirogba, respectively.
Gbenga Abiola, who will serve in the Media and Publicity Directorate, had earlier contested in the Agege Local Government APC primary but later withdrew and pledged loyalty to the party’s leadership.
While addressing the newly inaugurated council, Ojelabi urged members to commence full-scale grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
He emphasised the importance of showcasing the achievements of local governments under APC leadership to gain voter support.
In response, Campaign Council Chairman Tunde Balogun expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver victory at the polls, stating that their performance would also help strengthen the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
