Lagos LG Poll: DSS Invites Egunjobi, Ogunji Over Parallel Campaign

Ahead of Saturday, July 24, Local Governments’ elections, the Department of State Services (DSS) has invited incumbent Chairman and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Agege LG, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi and an aspirant, Abiodun Ogunji, over a parallel campaign, Worldtopnewsng exclusively report.

Sources who didn’t want their name mentioned because of their positions in the party revealed to this medium that DSS has caution Ogunji to desist from parading himself as the party’s candidate and stop running any campaign.

Recall, Worldtopnewsng had reported that Egunjobi won his party ticket in the May 29th, 2021 APC primaries held simultaneously across the State. His name also appeared in the party’s list published in June 2021.

This medium reported that Egunjobi alongside seven (7) APC councillorship candidates were validated by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) on Thursday, July 1, 2021.

Sources who are familiar with the game disclosed to Worldtopnewsng that out of hundreds of Lagosians that participated in APC primaries for the LG poll, Ogunji is the only aspirant running a parallel campaign.

“He has been called to order by the DSS, I don’t know what’s wrong with Biodun (Abiodun Ogunji), he contested in an election, he lost and up until today, he’s still battling with his defeat. He needs to move on with his life, joins hands with the winner in order to ensure our party’s victory come Saturday, July 24” a source said.

Another source uncovered that. “I just pity the boy, wasting his money on the campaign here and there, his name is not our party list forwarded to LASIEC, he did not receive LASIEC form neither being validated for the election by LASIEC, why is he wasting his money?,” a top APC chieftain in Agege told Worldtopnewsng.

When contacted on the development, Egunjobi confirmed the DSS invitation to Worldtopnewsng. “Yes, I got the DSS invitation, but at that time, I was in a meeting with Mr Governor at the State House, Marina,” he said.

All efforts to reach Ogunji proved abortive as he did not pick calls placed to him nor reply to text messages.
