Labour Party Supports New Lockdown, Calls For Speedy Vaccine Rollout

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, who previously called for a third national lockdown in England, says he doesn’t want to “quarrel” with the government now.

The PM’s measures are “necessary” and people should “pull together”, he adds, saying it’s “very important” people stick to the ‘stay at home’ message.

“We support these measures,” he confirms.

On schools, Sir Keir says no-one wants to see them closed but “sadly it’s inevitable”.

He calls on the government to “get the vaccine rolled out as quickly as possible”.
