#EndSARS: Why We Suspend Our 7-Day Peace Walk In Lagos – Olokoba
Popular activist and National President, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), Comrade Razaq Olokoba, has given reasons for suspending his group planned 7-day Walk for Peace in support of the Lagos Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s cancellation of the planned Walk slated for last week.
Olokoba, at a press conference attended by almost the 70 other right organizations and pro-democracy groups under the umbrella of the CDG, said the governor’s decision for the cancellation was the best for the generality of the citizenry and the right steps to the right direction.
According to him, the cancellation of the exercise by the governor has shown that he is aware that, it would be socially and politically wrong to create another problem while trying to solve an earlier problem, believing that, the cancellation has confirmed that the governor is on top of the situation in the state because country and the world over, stating that, going ahead with the exercise would have portrayed him as an insensitive administrator.
Speaking further, the youth leader said, when Sanwo-Olu planned the exercise for just one day, “our team, in solidarity with him and support for his administration planned for a 7-day exercise to further sensitise the populace about the good work he has been doing for humanity in the state,” observing that, some people might be ignorantly antagonistic to the good policies of Sanwo-Olu’s administration due to lack of knowledge about the goings-on at the corridors of power.
The youthful diehard right crusader and political commentator of repute, therefore, urged his team of several pro-democracy and human rights groups to fall in line with the cancellation for the benefit of all and sundry not minding the narrow belief that the cancellation was a calculated ploy to save face, insisting that, “the timidity of a lion is never a sign of weakness or cowardice.”
The sensitisation, Olokoba said can still go on gently and peacefully as usual with COVID_19 protocols observed to the letter, reminding that medical experts and scientists have warned that the new version of the COVID-19 has been scientifically confirmed to be deadlier than the previous ones in terms of intensity and prompt killing.
He, thus, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his consideration for the wellbeing of his people without minding what the paid detractors are spewing from their mouths, expressing the need to keep his eyes fixedly on the ball to avoiding derailing from the purpose of the mandate given to him by the people.
He conclusively persuaded the team not to allow the cancellation of the event dampen their morale, explaining that, the governor’s action was the best any reasonable leader could take to avert catastrophe of an unimaginable proportion.
