The Senior Special Assistant (Diaspora Affairs) to Ekiti State Governor Femi Odere has appointed a liaison officer in the United States. She is Ms. Opeyemi Oni. Ms. Oni is based in the state of Maryland, United States.
In a press release, Mr. Odere said the appointment became necessary in view of the significant presence of Ekiti State indigenes in that country who must continually be engaged for their participation in the economic development of the state in accordance with the 5-point agenda of His Excellency Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State.
Mr. Odere said that the primary responsibility of Ms. Oni is to network, interface and engage individuals, professional bodies and associations of Ekiti indigenes in the United States on his behalf in order to effectively harness their human and material resources for economic development as well as a conduit through which the activities of the Fayemi administration can further percolate into their midst.
Odere said this is a second of such appointment, having appointed a UK liaison officer for the Office of Diaspora Affairs in 2020. The appointment is on a volunteer basis.
