Mr David Olusegun Odunmbaku, the Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is celebrating with Muslims in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Jumu’ah Abiodun, on Saturday, Odunmbaku urged Muslim Umma to imbibe the lesson of sacrifice which Eid-el-Kabir symbolises.

He said Eid-el-Kabir resuscitated the memory of the willingness and exemplary actions of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to sacrifice his son.

The council chairman also made a call to action for all Muslim faithful to pray for continuous peace and togetherness in the country.

In his words, “I would like to congratulate Muslims in Nigeria and the rest of the world on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, particularly the pilgrims who have carried out one of the basic rites of Islam in Mecca,” Odunmbaku said.

He added: “This celebration brings to our mind the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son. We should all remember the lesson of sacrifice the celebration symbolises. We should all use this medium to pray for peace stability and unity in our community, Lagos and Nigeria.”

In addition, the Executive Chairman also encouraged privileged Nigerians not to relent in support of the needy, especially during moments of festivity such as this, making a generous donation to his constituent with over 100 rams, cows, rice and cash gifts for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
