Edo Poly To Become Health, Safety, Environment Training Hub
…To commence programme in industrial safety, environment engineering tech
The Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, is set to become a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) training hub in Edo State through a partnership with the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) and other collaborators.
The institution is also set to commence National Diploma (ND) programme in Industrial Safety and Environmental Engineering Technology.
This was disclosed at the 5th Eminent Scholar Series with the theme, ‘Engagement of Safety in the Environment,’ which held virtually.
The Guest Speaker at the lecture, Engr. Abdulmajid Mohammed Na’Inna, noted that the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna is ready to partner with the polytechnic to deepen teaching and research in aircraft engineering and aeronautics.
He lauded the determination of the rector of polytechnic, Prof. Abiodun Falodun, in repositioning the institution for excellence, stating that there has been a transformational change at the polytechnic since he mounted the saddle.
On his part, Prof. Falodun noted that partnerships have been brokered with relevant professional bodies to position the school as the leading training facility for HSE in the state, noting that the development was borne out of the commitment to provide well-skilled manpower to drive industrial growth.
He said the new programme in Industrial Safety and Environmental Engineering Technology would pull in professionals and academics to deliver bespoke training in industrial processes and safety management for technicians that would contribute to the development of the state and the country at large.
