Edo 2020: APC In Diasrray As 5 Members Of Edo Campaign Council Make U-turn, Reject Nomination To Campaign Against Obaseki
The political landscape of Nigeria is at its peak as the 2023 Presidential battle has been shifted to the Heart Beat of the Nation. There is the likelihood that the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council will be reshuffle due to internal crisis rocking the yet to be inaugurated campaign council.
A source close to the new Caretaker Committee set up by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the APC has revealed that three Governors have stepped down from the APC campaign council for the Edo State Governorship election.
According to the intel information, two of the three are ex-Governors and current serving Senators and one among them is a current serving Governor from the North while the others are from the South-East. The other two yet to be confirmed members of the Edo Campaign council that were mentioned are from Edo South and Edo Central respectively.
Information reaching us is tha many of the APC governors excused themselves from the campaign committee in Edo because they are still angry with Adams Oshiomole and the party National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over how they treated Obaseki, leaving the only 3 governors who are pro Oshiomhole and Tinubu in the committe… There is serious fire on the mountain.
The source maintained that some of the aggrieved members were those who prevailed on the suspended National Chairman to allowed Governor Godwin Obaseki to maintain the ticket of the APC but Adams Oshiomhole refused to listen to us. “Since Oshiomhole believes he can single-handedly remove Obaseki we are not going to Edo to campaign with him..let us see how far Oshiomhole can go.”
Efforts to reach the two terms Governor from the East and a serving Senator prove abortive as their phone numbers were not available. More efforts are currently ongoing to validate the high profile privilege information made available to our news desk on the condition of anonymous.
As at the time of filing this report it was gathered that an emergency meeting has been called by the APC National Caretaker committee to reconsider their action. The fact that emerges was not unconnected with the used of language by Adams Oshiomhole in calling his preferred candidate unprintable names across the state and such a candidate will be difficult to be accepted by the people. Others question the public integrity if the APC Campaign Council Chairman and Kano State Governor over the bribery allegations on a viral video which will make the public to perceive the APC as a corrupt party.
When contacted for comments the Publicity Secretary of APC said Ize-Iyamu is Edo APC candidate and not a national candidate. We have been mandated to support him and our support can’t translate to vote. The President can’t vote for Ize-Iyamu and no member of the campaign council can be in Edo State to deliver him. It’s a personal election, his conduct will deliver him and not the personality that is backing him. Ours is moral support and the main election is between him and the people of Edo State he added.
