British PM Affirms Third National Lockdown For England
Boris Johnson announces that England will be going into a national lockdown – the third of its kind since the coronavirus crisis began.
People across the country will immediately be asked to “stay at home”, echoing the message in force back in March 2020.

- To work if it’s impossible to work from home (for example critical and construction workers)
- To shop for necessities including food and medicines
- To exercise – this can include one other person outside of your household, support or childcare bubble. Ideally once a day and locally.
- To provide care or help to a vulnerable persons
- To attend medical appointments, seek medical care or flee the threat of harm or domestic abuse.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson hopes that by the middle of February, if things go well, the first vaccine dose will have been administered to everyone in the four top priority groups, says Boris Johnson.
That means vaccinating all residents in a care home for older adults and their carers, everyone over the age of 70, all front-line health and social care workers and everyone who is clinically extremely vulnerable.

If that happens, then that may enable the government to remove some restrictions, Mr Johnson adds.
