After 5 Tests Positive For COVID-19, Number Of Tennis Players Self-isolating In Melbourne Reaches 72

The rocky road to the 2021 Australian Open continues with news that the total number of players having to self-isolate could soon rise to almost 100.

Tennis Australia confirmed a fifth positive COVID-19 case on a charter flight from Doha to Melbourne which had 25 players on board.

Currently 72 players are self-isolating, unable to leave their hotel rooms, but another positive case has emerged from a flight arriving from Dubai, which could see that total approach 100.

Amongst those isolating are Spanish players Carlos Alcaraz, Paula Badosa and Mario Vilella.

Many of the players affected were travelling to Australia from the qualifying stages helf in Doha and Dubai.
