Zidane Hoping For Courtois Heroics To Continue Against Eibar

Real Madrid will arrive to face Eibar with Thibaut Courtois shielding Zinedine Zidane with his rapid upturn in form in recent matches, with the Belgian keeping four clean sheets.

He has come in for criticism in the early part of the season, with fans even taking to Alphonse Areola quicker after his arrival, but has been key for Los Blancos’ recent positive defensive record.

Extra motivation arrives in the form of one of Keylor Navas‘ records on Saturday evening, with the Costa Rican having previously gone 517 minutes without conceding a goal.

Courtois currently sits at 443 minutes since letting his last goal in, and if he keeps a clean sheet for 75 minutes against Eibar, he will hold the record.

Leganes, Real Betis and Galatasaray are the teams who have failed to put the ball past Courtois of late.

This run of form has come following his worst moment in Spain, when he was substituted at half-time in the 2-2 draw with Club Brugge.

The official reasoning was that the keeper was suffering with a stomach issue, but there was speculation that the former Chelsea stopper was suffering with a bout of anxiety.

His time spent with the Belgian national team in the last international break appears to have done him the world of good and he returned a different person.
