Las Vegas Shooting Update: FBI Disputes ISIS Claim
The FBI said the man behind the mass shooting in Las Vegas has no connections to ISIS despite the group’s claim they were behind the attack.
“We have determined to this point no connection with the international terrorist group,” said the FBI special agent in charge of the Las Vegas investigation.
“We will continue to work with our partners to ensure that this is factually, thoroughly, and absolutely investigated to be able to bring comfort and peace back to this community.”
ISIS said the perpetrator was “a soldier” who had converted to Islam months ago, without providing any evidence to support the claim.
Without naming Paddock, the terror organization said in a statement, via its news agency, that he “executed the operation in response to calls to target countries of the coalition.”
The group’s Aamaq news agency released two brief statements hours after the shooting at a country music concert that killed at least 58 people and wounded at least 500.
