WhatsApp Could Block Your Account Without Warning If You Using GB WhatsApp, Plus
A statement released by WhatsApp has scared some users, with the messaging service announcing that accounts could be banned if they use third party apps.
This includes WhatsApp Plus, which goes against the company’s terms of use.
“If you received an in-app message stating your account is ‘temporarily banned’ this means that you’re likely using an unsupported version of WhatsApp instead of the official WhatsApp app,” a statement from the company said.
“If you don’t switch to the official app after being temporarily banned, your account might be permanently banned from using WhatsApp.
“Unsupported apps, such as WhatsApp Plus, GB WhatsApp, or apps that claim to move your WhatsApp chats between phones, are altered versions of WhatsApp.
“These unofficial apps are developed by third parties and violate our Terms of Service.
“WhatsApp doesn’t support these third-party apps because we can’t validate their security practices.”
What to do if your WhatsApp account is suspended?
In most cases, all that has to be done is to wait for a period of time until the account is reinstated.
Sometimes a certain time of suspension will be indicated and the account can be used again once that set period passes.
In the case of an account being indefinitely banned, the next step of action is to get in touch with WhatsApp via the contact form, email or through the app if possible. Then, the user will have to try to convince the company to reinstate their account.
The only other alternative would be to create a new account with a new number.
