Werner Ends Goal Drought As Chelsea Beat Morecambe In FA Cup

Chelsea breezed past League Two side Morecambe in the FA Cup third round with a 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues are enduring an awful run of form in the Premier League with just one win in their last six, but there would be no upset against the fourth-tier side.

Mason Mount opened the scoring for Chelsea, before Timo Werner ended his 827-minute goal drought to make it 2-0.

The German hadn’t scored in his last 12 games, since netting against Sheffield United on November 7, 2020.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, as Chelsea went on to bag two more. Hakim Ziyech set up Callum Hudson-Odoi for the third goal of the afternoon before Cesar Azpilicueta assisted Kai Havertz’s late strike.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was back in the line-up and managed to keep a clean sheet in what was a quiet afternoon for the Spaniard.
