We Want To Create Chances, Score Goals At Camp Nou – Matuidi

Ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s round of 16 second leg tie against Barcelona, Blaise Matuidi faced the media to answer questions about how seriously they are taking a challenge that is all but over before the first whistle sounds.

The Frenchman assured everyone that PSG are not worried about the confidence that the Catalans have, nor the great form of Lionel Messi, who was anonymous in the first game.

“We want to come and play a good game,” he began.

“It’s a pleasure to play in this fantastic stadium, we know that, and we’re aware that we have a great team in front of us.

“But we are focused on our own game and what we are capable of producing.”

The reporters present speculated that Messi couldn’t possibly have another game as poor as he did in the Parc des Princes, but Matuidi reiterated that they’ll look at themselves first and foremost.

“We all know the quality of Messi,” he continued.

“And it’s difficult to have a plan against him.

“We are prepared to suffer but we are also capable of putting Barcelona in a difficult situation.

“To focus on ourselves, create chances, score goals and not concede is our aim.”

Although it’s expected that the Blaugrana will have the lion’s share of possession, the midfielder believes his teammates are capable of producing the goods on the night.

“Barcelona are very strong and focused on possession of the ball,” he said.

“But we also have that philosophy.

“They and we have quality on all fronts but they have a duty to score to qualify.

“We face the challenge with great anticipation and desire.”
