We Recovered Over N50m For Lagosians From Fraudulent Developers, Says Benson-Awoyinka

The Lagos State Government has recovered over N50 million for Lagosians that were defrauded by fraudulent estate developers.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Housing, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, made this known at the ministerial press briefing held to commemorate the second year in office of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at Bagaulda Kaltho press centre, Alausa, Ikeja, on May 11th, 2021.

Benson-Awoyinka also pointed out that her ministry has mediated in diverse landlords, estate agents and tenants litigations.
“We already engaged in diverse mediation processes between landlords, estate agents and tenants and we also recorded successful recovery of funds for affected citizens amounting to over N50 million.”
“At the last press conference we had, we called out a particular developer who had engaged in a particular transaction and was not able to deliver on that transaction. To the glory of God, we were able to recover N30 million for that young lady in that transaction. We also able to do other transactions and in total, we got about N50 million for the citizens of Lagos.”

“We did this mediation process without any cost to the people, the citizens and all pure pro bono cases on behalf of the citizens.”
On how to identify the real estate practitioners, Benson-Awoyinka said: “Some of the things we do, is the registration of real estate practitioners, to gather the data of the real ones among them where what you get online is the reality.”
“You can tell us what your activities are, you register what you doing as a developer or a practitioner in the real estate agency and it can be available to the world.”

The special adviser concluded that there are so much going on in the real estate as well as housing sectors than erecting structures across the state.
