Despite a difficult debut season at Atletico Madrid, striker Kevin Gameiro has insisted that he is determined to stay and prove himself at the club.
The former Paris Saint-Germain forward joined the Rojiblancos last summer from Sevilla but has struggled to fulfil expectations.
Despite netting the fastest LaLiga hat-trick in over two decades against Sporting, he scored just nine times in the league aside from that, which has sparked suggestions that the club could look to offload him during the summer.
“Despite the rumours circulating, I’m not thinking about leaving,” Gameiro wrote on his Facebook page.
“My greatest desire is to continue defending the Atleti colours for many years!! Forza Atleti!!”
In total, the Frenchman scored 16 times in all competitions during his first season in the Spanish capital.
