Vanessa Bryant’s Heart-breaking Recollection: I Thought Kobe and Gianna Were Alive

Vanessa Bryant has had to undergo a deposition in her lawsuit against Los Angeles County for the leakage of photographs from the scene of her husband Kobe Bryant’s accident in 2020.

The wife of the NBA legend has revealed for the first time the horrifying details of how she found out about her husband and daughter Gianna’s deaths.

An article from Ryan Young for Yahoo Sports recounted Vanessa’s testimony, saying she was in her home with her two younger daughters when a family assistant came to their door at around 11:30.

She was informed that both Kobe and Gianna had been involved in a helicopter accident and that five people had survived.

At first, Vanessa thought both Kobe and Gianna were alive and tried to call her husband, but started seeing notifications on her phone that Kobe had, in fact, died.

She then tried desperately to get to the crash site, initially attempting to go by helicopter but she was stopped by officials who didn’t want her to travel in the weather conditions at that time. She therefore travelled with LA Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka to the sheriff’s station in Malibu.

Bryant told the court that no one would give her any answers about her husband and daughter’s condition, but finally she was told by Sheriff Alex Villanueva that Kobe and Gianna had been killed.

It’s difficult to imagine just how Vanessa must have felt in those moments.

Kobe’s late wife is currently filing a lawsuit against Los Angeles County for the distress caused to her family over leaked photos of the crash site where her husband and daughter lost their lives.
