Hungary have been punished by UEFA following discriminatory behaviour from their fans during their Euro 2020 group stage matches against Portugal, France and Germany.

The sanctions include having to play their next three matches behind closed doors, however, the third match has been suspended for two years.

The Hungarian Football Association has also been handed a 100,00 euro fine and have been ordered to unveil a banner in their next three games with the hashtag “#EqualGame”, alongside the UEFA logo.

Among the acts cited by UEFA were monkey chants towards Kylian Mbappe, insults towards Cristiano Ronaldo and a lack of respect towards other nation’s national anthems.

The measures only apply to UEFA competitions and will not affect their European qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
