U.S. Secretary of State, Pompeo Debunks Placing Philip Shaibu On Watch List
United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has distanced his office and the government from the viral video claiming to place the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, on the watch list over the forthcoming election in the state.
According to Pompeo, “It took the United States decades to build international integrity and will not accept any individual or group to tarnish the good image of America to achieve their political objective.”
“It was strange to hear that Philip Shaibu is on the US Intelligence Unit watch list. Members of the public should disregard the purported video in circulation. It is barbaric and it’s unacceptable for anyone to use the name of the US agency to achieve political goals.”
“The United States is a disciplined society and we are firm believers in the consolidation of democracy. Frequent change of government have damaging consequences in the economy of any nation, we are advocates of consolidation of democracy both in Nigeria and Africa.
Pompeo warned those using the country’s name to play politics to desist from such or face the consequences of their decision of blackmailing.
