Diego Simeone has been able to welcome back Kieran Trippier for Atletico Madrid’s match against Sevilla on Tuesday night, with the English right-back having been named in the squad list for the fixture.
Trippier was hit with a 10-week ban from all footballing activity for his part in breaching the English Football Association’s rules on gambling, but this has now been suspended by FIFA, so the ban itself is on hold pending appeal. The good news for Atletico is that this means Trippier is now available to play.
Both Joao Felix and Jose Maria Gimenez are once again available for Simeone. The Portuguese forward suffered an ankle knock in the Copa del Rey defeat to Cornella, while the defender also suffered an injury in that same match.
They were both doubts to face Athletic Club last Saturday – this game was called off due to the impact of Storm Filomena – but they are now ready to face Sevilla.
One player who has been left out of the squad, however, is Hector Herrera. The Mexican midfielder, who suffered a muscle injury against Real Madrid on December 12, is out for the seventh successive match.
