The English Football Association have banned Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier from all footballing activity for 10 weeks after breaking betting regulations.
The ban means that the 30-year-old won’t play for Atleti again until at least late February and will miss Copa del Rey, LaLiga Santander and Champions League matches against opponents including Athletic Club, Sevilla, Celta Vigo, Granada, Villarreal and Chelsea.
The sanction, which see him miss a total of 13 club games, relates to charges including betting on his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Atletico in the summer of 2019.
As the ban relates to all footballing activity, Trippier will not even be allowed to train at Atletico’s facilities.
The England international, who denies the charges that were first brought against him in May, will also have to pay a 70,000 pound fine.
Trippier could return for the Madrid derby at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on March 7 or the second leg of Atletico’s Champions League last-16 tie against
