Spread the love

After having been postponed last year for this summer, the 2020 European Championship is set to take place between June 11 and July 11 in several countries across Europe.

As the domestic leagues are drawing to a close, teams have already begun announcing their squads for the tournament, whose final will be played on July 11 at 21:00 CEST at Wembley.

Key games

The tournament opener will be a clash between Turkey and Italy on June 11 in Rome. The other two teams of Group A, Wales and Switzerland, will face each other the following day and those two games could be important to get an idea of which could be the favourites in a rather even group.

Belgium are considered as the front-runners to win Group B, with the games between Denmark and Finland on June 12, Finland vs Russia on June 16 and Russia vs Denmark on June 21 all being crucial to find out which will be the team to be eliminated.

The Netherlands and Austria are considered as the favourites to win Group C and the game between the two sides will be played on June 17 in Amsterdam.

Meanwhile, either England or Croatia – who face other on June 13 – are expected to top group D, but the derby between the Three Lions and Scotland on June 18 could also be an interesting watch.

As for Group E, all Spain’s games against Sweden (June 14), Poland (June 19) and Slovakia (June 23) have been moved from Bilbao to Seville’s Estadio de la Cartuja.

Last but not least comes the so-called ‘group of death’ consisting of Germany, France, Portugal and Hungary. Germany play France on June 15, before facing Portugal four days later, while France take on Portugal on June 23.
