Emerson Leaves Barcelona For Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of right back Emerson Royal from Barcelona for 25 million euros.
The Brazilian player’s time at the Camp Nou was fleeting, having only joined from Betis in June for nine million euros. The Andalusian club will be due 20 percent of the fee paid by Spurs.
Emerson started his first Barcelona game on Sunday against Getafe and has featured in all three of the team’s LaLiga Santander games this season.
The 22-year-old spent two-and-a-half years at Betis after joining from Atletico Mineiro in January 2018 for 12 million euros, of which Barcelona put up six million euros.
A full international with Brazil, he has four caps for his country and arrives in London with 76 LaLiga Santander games under his belt.
Spurs presented an initial offer of 20 million euros a few days ago and an agreement for 25 million euros was finally reached on Monday.
The player wanted to stay at the Camp Nou, but the club, who need the money, eventually convinced him to accept the move to the Premier League. The Blaugrana thus turn a quick profit on the player and help alleviate some of the financial pressure which has given them such a a complicated summer.
Although Ronald Koeman has used Emerson in each of the three LaLiga Santander games so far this season, he still has Sergino Dest, Oscar Mingueza and Sergi Roberto to cover the right back position.
Barcelona simply couldn’t turn down this opportunity that the market presented and Emerson, made understand the competition for places, decided to move on, ending his Barcelona career before it had even got off the ground.
