Benin Royal Family Hails Obaseki’s Devt Strides, Pledges Support

The Benin Royal Family has hailed the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for providing impactful and purposeful leadership, which has translated into massive multi-sectoral development across the state.

The Royal Family, based in North America, who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House in Benin City, commended the government’s efforts in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

The Secretary-General of the group, Prince Larry Eweka, who spoke on behalf of other members of the Royal Family, congratulated Obaseki for his victory at the Supreme Court, expressing their readiness to collaborate with the government to ensure sustained development in the state.

He noted: “Edos in the Diaspora are willing to contribute their quota to the development of the state and nation at large. The group is proud to be from Edo State and from the Royal Family. We will continue to support the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki to ensure progress and development in the state.”

“The government can’t do it alone and needs the support of the citizens, and as a group, we have pledged our loyalty and commitment to support the government to ensure they achieve all their developmental plans for the people.”

“We are ready to embark on developmental projects in the state but want the government to let us know the area of collaboration. We were sent from the United States of America to assess the development in the state and also assist the government build the state,” Prince Eweka added.

The Secretary-General said the Royal Family plans to have a reunion next year 2022 and will officially invite the governor and his cabinet members, as the event will focus on how those in the Diaspora will support the government in achieving its vision of making Edo great again.

In his response, the governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, thanked the Benin Royal Family for their support and collaboration in ensuring successes recorded so far by his administration.

“I thank the group for the support from the Diaspora; I urge them to continue to contribute their quota to the development of the state. I commend you for the important role played over the years and the support from the Royal Family and Benins in the Diaspora.”

“As a government, we can’t see or do everything alone as we need the assistance and contribution from citizens across the world to move the state forward,” he added.
