Sevilla’s Renaissance On Hold After Late, Late Show From Getafe

Vincenzo Montella has stamped his authority all over his Sevilla side, and they looked odds on to win their match against Getafe, but an injury time equaliser saw the points shared (1-1).

Dressing room harmony has clearly played a huge part in the Andalusians success, and Montella deserves all of the credit for that.

Steven N’Zonzi, who had one foot out of the door before the Italian’s arrival, was at his marauding best, and whilst there weren’t too many goalmouth incidents to shout about, Sevilla never looked like giving this one up.

Luis Muriels’s goal from Nolito’s assist in the 70th minute looked likely to be the winner, and the three points would’ve ensured that Sevilla were comfortable in sixth place, tucked in just behind Villarreal and Real Madrid and only five points behind third-placed Valencia.

However, Angel Rodriguez’s 93rd minute goal silenced the home fans and saw Getafe jump up three places.

Nolito and Sergio Rico were both booked for protesting the decision to award the goal, and Montella must raise morale in time for the Copa del Rey semi final on Wednesday against Leganes.
