Edo Govt Assures Of Inclusion, Better Opportunities For Persons With Disabilities

The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring an enabling environment that would give equal and adequate opportunities to Persons with Disabilities in the state for the fulfilment of their dreams and aspirations.

Edo State Head of Service Anthony Okungbowa Esq. gave the assurance when he received the executive members of Network Advancement of People with Visible Disabilities (NAPVID) in Benin City, Edo State capital.

Okungbowa noted that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration will continue to embark on far-reaching reforms and programmes in all sectors of the state, ensuring the protection of rights and provision of economic opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Noting that the government is intent on achieving a virile and productive Civil/Public service, Okungbowa assured them of fair and equal opportunities to thrive in the state.

Assuring the government’s commitment to providing employment and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities, he noted that “having any form of disability is not a stoppage to our optimum performance.”

Earlier, leader of the NAPVID delegation, Barr. Melody Omosoh, who spoke on behalf of the Association, said they were in the Office of the Head of Service, to congratulate him on his appointment and update him with the association’s activities.

Omosoh expressed appreciation to the Obaseki-led administration for fair inclusion of the physically-challenged persons in the civil and public service, noting that the government has put in place measures to continuously transform the public sector.
