It took seven matches, but Valencia have finally earned a home victory this LaLiga Santander season.

As Los Che warmed up for their crunch Champions League trip to take on JuventusSanti Mina was the hero with goals either side of half time, before Kevin Gameiro added another to complete a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

From the off, it was clear that Valencia were up for this one and keen to finally collect three points in front of their home fans.

Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski had to intervene twice in the opening three minutes to deny Dani Parejo and Rodrigo.

Valencia attacked and attacked, but had a scare in the 19th minute as Luis Advincula struck the woodwork with one of Rayo‘s rare attacks.

Santi Mina, though, was able to ease the Mestalla‘s familiar nerves in the 34th minute as he latched onto a ball into the box and beat Dimitrievski with a first-time shot.

A quarter of an hour into the second half the Galician struck again, this time pouncing on a rebound at a corner kick for his sixth goal in five matches.

There was a brief flicker of a response from Rayo, but Gameiro was on hand to wrap up the victory in the 75th minute as he finished after a neat one-two with Rodrigo.

A red card three minutes from time for Advincula added to Rayo‘s miserable afternoon, while the Valencian fans finally experienced some joy at a home LaLiga Santander game.
