Research Shows Communication With People In Their Sleep Proven Possible

Scientists have proven that it is possible to interact with a person who is sleeping and dreaming in the rapid eye movement stage.

The findings of the Northwestern University researchers have been published in the journal ‘Current Biology’, where they explained that they achieved real-time communication with the dreamers.

“Our experimental goal is akin to finding a way to talk with an astronaut who is on another world, but in this case, the world is entirely fabricated on the basis of memories stored in the brain,” wrote the researchers.

Scientists interacted with the 36 people who participated in the experiment through sound, touch and flashing lights.

All participants were monitored through an encephalogram and admitted that during the REM stage they perceived these messages from outside.

“We presented questions to individuals in the midst of lucid dreams, and they were able to answer with eye movements or muscle contractions,” Karen Konkoly, cognitive neuroscientist at Northwestern and one of the paper’s authors, told CNN.
