RB Leipzig Pull Off Sensational Comeback Borussia Monchengladbach

Spread the love

RB Leipzig fought back from two goals down against Borussia Monchengladbach to seal a dramatic late turnaround victory.

The three points move Leipzig to just two points behind leaders Bayern Munich who had defeated Cologne 5-0 earlier in the day.

The hosts looked to have blown their opportunity to get closer to the current Bundesliga champions when a penalty from Jonas Hofman and a strike from Marcos Thuram had given Monchengladbach a two goal advantage in the first half.

Yet a different Leipzig emerged in the second period, and by the 66th minutes, the scores were level.

Christopher Nkunku and Yussuf Poulsen helped to restore parity on 57 and 66 minutes respectively, before the sensational late twist.

Just as Leipzig seemed set to lose ground in the title race, up stepped Alexander Sorloth in the third minute of added time to drive the ball home, sparking wild celebrations from the home team.
