Qatar Will Organise A Historic World Cup, People Will Be Surprised, Says Xavi
Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez is confident that both players and fans will be taken aback by Qatar during the 2022 World Cup, which will be hosted from November 21 to December 18.
The current Al Sadd coach explained that people will not be forced to travel large distances during the tournament, which will be disputed in the winter and not in summer, when players are exhausted after the end of domestic and international club competitions.
“I think the tournament schedule is a great advantage, for [both] the players and the fans,” said Xavi.
“Historically, the World Cups have been [played] at the end of the season when most players are tired both mentally and physically.
“In 2022, they will be in the best possible shape, and that is an advantage for everyone.
“Another point is that Qatar is a small country, so players will hardly have to travel.
“They will stay in the same hotel throughout the tournament.
“It will not be like in previous events, which I think is a great advantage for the players and, of course, also for the fans.
“You will be able to watch two matches on the same day, which means we will have a historic World Cup.
“I have no doubt that people will be pleasantly surprised when they come to Qatar and experience what the country has to offer.”
