Summary of findings and contribution to Knowledge:
The constitutional powers of the President to grant broadcast license ,appoint Director General of the national broadcasting commission (NBC)and over bearing of the minister of information to control operations of NBC have constituted political interference on the role of the the NBC.
The effect of political interference were noticed in poor quality broadcasting, inadequate professionalism and lack of independence of the broadcast regulator
Contribution to Knowledge
1. This study proposed a review of the section of the Nigerian constitution relating to issuances of broadcast license and the NBC Act
2. The study recommended a truly independent broadcast media commission for Nigeria , specifically that of Ghana National media commission that is totally insulated from partisan politics
3. This study added to the literature on media regulations globally with specific reference to the peculiarities of different media landscape in various countries.
