The Chairman of the National Assembly Legislative Aide Forum (NASSLAF), Comrade Sam Melaye has been arrested in an ongoing peaceful protest staged against unpaid allowances of the political aides since 2015.

It would be recalled that worldtopnewsng.com report earlier that the forum had issued a notice to management over the marginalization of the aides of both Chamber of the National Assembly.

The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki earlier held a meeting with the leadership of the body where he assured them that their three years unpaid allowances will be considered but the appealed of Saraki was counter by his Deputy Ike Ekweremadu who said the aides have no right to complain over their unpaid allowances since other Nigerians are jobless looking for jobs.

The unguided utterances of the Deputy Senate President has sparked anger among the legislative aides leading to the ongoing protest where Comrade Sam younger brother to Senator Dino Melaye was just arrested by the DPO in the National Assembly along with DSS officials.

One of the Personal Assistat to a Senator was sick and resorted to borrowing to pay medical bills while their allowances are used by the management of the National Assembly to service their concubines and luxurious life.

The out cry of the legislative aides became urgent and important because the various political parties will be embarking on primaries and report available to worldtopnewsng.com that the allowances for the legislative aides has been put together to share by the legislators for their primary elections thereby ignoring the suffering aides who are the brains behind their success and prosperity.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara has recently lost one of his aides in the house of Reps who was sick and died due to lack of finance to pay medical requirement. If this ugly situation is not arrested and address more aides may die due to ongoing hardship.

The National Assembly legislative aide forum has also expressed fear over their severance. “If allowances are not paid then what is our hope that our severance will not be withold from us? they asked.

The total figure of the allowances that sparked up an ongoing protest this morning at the complex of the National Assembly White House is about 800,000 per legislative aide.

“The EFCC, ICPC and other relevant security agencies has been call upon to intervene and asked the management of the national Assembled their justification for such deprivation of human right. We are aides and not slaves they said.”
